Over the years we have witnessed some of our favorite celebs loosing their battle against the mental health and loosing their lives. It is very concerning issues that famous people who have whole luxury of the world succumb to succumb to the psychological and emotional problems they are facing and lose their life in different incidents.

If we look back at history, there are many celebrities who battled with mental health issues and lost their lives.  Here we would like to remember the people who lost lives due to mental health issues so that the world can be more concerned about the consequences of psychological and mental health problems.

Late Celebrities Who Had Past Struggles With Mental Health

Matthew Perry

Matthew Perry, the most loved actor as a role of Chandler Bing in the popular series Friends, died of drowning this October 2023. Official report of the exact cause of death is yet to arrive. Perry has been vocal about his struggles with drug & alcohol addiction and mental health. He had shared his moments of struggles with depression and anxiety. In his memoir, Friends, Lovers and the Big Terrible Thing, he had shared that he had gone to rehab 15 times and been in detox 65 times. The Fools Rush star has always tried to help people by spreading awareness of mental health awareness and value of a sober life.

Celebrities who lost lives due to mental health issues

Sinead O’Connor

Sinéad O’Connor, an Irish singer-songwriter, hailed as the 1990s' first superstar by Rolling Stone, gained fame for her voice and provocative actions. She released the debut album "The Lion and the Cobra" in 1987. Her   "I Do Not Want What I Haven't Got" album sold seven million copies globally, featuring the hit "Nothing Compares 2 U." The Grammy-winning artist achieved global recognition in 1990 with her emotional rendition of Prince's "Nothing Compares 2 U."

Sinéad O’Connor died on July 26, 2023, before she died, O'Connor, who was open about her mental health struggles, had been mourning her son Shane's 2022 death by suicide. She lost her life after years of mental health battles, her 'devastated' family confirmed. In her last Tweet, O'Connor posted a photo of her late son and wrote ‘Been living as undead night creature since. He was the love of my life, the lamp of my soul.

Angus Cloud

Angus Cloud, known for his role in the teen drama 'Euphoria,' passed away at his family residence in Oakland, California on Monday.

Cloud's representative confirmed the news and shared a statement from his family. While the exact cause of his death was not specified, the statement mentioned that Angus had been facing significant challenges since the recent passing of his father, Conor Hickey, whose funeral took place the previous week.

According to his family, Angus was grappling with mental health issues and had been open about his struggles in this regard. They hope that his untimely demise serves as a poignant reminder to others that they should never feel alone or endure mental health battles in silence. Seeking support and not hesitating to reach out for help is essential during such challenging times.

Robin Williams

Robin Williams was an American actor and comedian known for his roles in the movies like Awakenings, Good Morning, Vietnam and Good Will Hunting. Williams died on August 11, 2014.

Robin Williams died by suicide and his mental health issues played a significant role in his decision. He had been struggling with depression and anxiety for a long time and had even attempted suicide before. In the weeks leading up to his death, his mental health had deteriorated significantly. He became more isolated and stopped taking his medication. Additionally, he had a history of self-harm and had recently acquired a firearm.

Michael Jackson

Michael Jackson was an American singer, songwriter, dancer, and philanthropist. The singer of popular scores like Beat It, You Are Not Alone and Billie Jean lost his life on June 25, 2009.

Michael Jackson's death was caused by acute propofol intoxication. However, there are signs that he might have been dealing with a mental health condition like depression or anxiety. His challenging childhood and experiences with significant trauma have undoubtedly left an impact on him. Additionally, the immense pressure he faced from being a child star and later as an adult striving for perfection could have played a role in exacerbating his mental health issues.

Kurt Cobain

Kurt Cobain was an American musician who was the co-founder, lead vocalist, guitarist and primary songwriter of the rock band Nirvana. The creator and performer of much loved songs like Smells Like Teen Spirit and  The Man Who Sold The World died on April 5, 1994.

Kurt Cobain died by suicide and his mental health issues played a significant role in his decision. He had been struggling with depression and addiction for a long time and had even attempted suicide before. In the weeks leading up to his death, his mental health had deteriorated significantly. He became more withdrawn and isolated and stopped taking his medication. There is no denying that Cobain's mental health struggles played a crucial role in his untimely demise. Despite being a beloved musician with a massive fan base, he was a deeply troubled individual, wrestling with his personal demons. His death serves as a poignant reminder of the seriousness of mental health issues and the importance of seeking help when faced with such challenges.

Amy Winehouse

Amy Winehouse was an English singer and songwriter known for her famous numbers like You Know I'm No Good, Rehab and Addicted. She died on July 23, 2011.

Amy Winehouse's death was a tragic event and her mental health struggles were a contributing factor. She had been battling addiction and bulimia for years and was diagnosed with bipolar disorder. In the months leading up to her death, her mental state had deteriorated considerably. She became more withdrawn and isolated and stopped taking her medication. Additionally, she had a history of self-harm and had recently experienced a drug overdose.

These famous people who are more likely to get the company of many people, who can easily access the facilities and services whenever they want are facing the problems of loneliness, isolation and depressive experiences. Which means psychological and mental issues can not be fixed only with materialistic means.

These recurring events of death of people loved by the global population definitely raises concerns about mental health issues. When celebs die, it becomes a news but according to the World Health Organization (WHO), over 800,000 people die by suicide every year. Therefore, mental health and psychological issues should be taken seriously by every society and every community of the world.
