Many health posts in suburbs of Nepal need assistance of people with basic skills on medical treatment and counseling. Healthcare volunteer program of FDIP provides participants a chance to get close with health problem of remote Nepali areas. Volunteers will assist in regular duties, such as dressing wounds, administering vaccinations, drawing blood, screening and organizing patients, collecting medicines and generally helping in any conditions in need of your skills and knowledge. Volunteers will also conduct awareness and motivation programs for the people for healthy and safe living standard.

Skills and Qualifications to Volunteer
For healthcare volunteer work applicant must have been trained in basic medical treatments and should have healthcare knowledge. Though no specific prior experience is compulsory, you are requested to provide FDIP a brief description of your skills and practices related to the project.
Orientation
2 days long orientation is held by our local staffs in Kathmandu. Volunteers are introduced to basic Nepali language and greets, meanwhile they are also informed about the custom, ritual, safety, travel guidance and all the dos and don'ts in the Nepali Society. Volunteers will be instructed about rules of the hospitals/health posts and their duties and responsibilities.
Your Week as a Volunteer
First day: On the first day you'll be briefed about the medical project and you will be ushered to the project location by our field officer.
Weekdays: In weekdays volunteer will be solely engaged in project. Daily schedule will be as follows
Morning: Breakfast ( As provided by homestay)
Daybreak: Volunteer placement
Evening: Back to homstay for dinner and rest
Food & Accommodation
Volunteers will be received at airport by our local staff. Volunteer are accommodated in our hostel for 2 days till the orientation. Volunteers are then accommodated at homestays.
You will be provided basic living standard with clean room, pure drinking water, hygienic food, bathroom and shower. Volunteers might share their room with other co-volunteers. Local meal in Nepal is Daal Bhaat, consisting of beans curry( daal),steamed rice(bhaat), vegetables, pickles and occassionally chicken or meat.
If you have any health issue and special dietary requirements please inform us while applying for the project. It will be tried to fulfill your all hygienic and nutritional requirement in meal but as a volunteer we will also be expecting some flexibility from you.
