Costa Rica Teaching Volunteer Program

River rafting, canyoning, cave tubing, and zip lining are all popular activities in Costa Rica's national parks. It is also one of the best places to observe rare species like macaws, sea turtles, and cute sloths if you're an animal lover. Costa Rica is known for its "rich coast," which has pioneered a variety of movements such as surfing, farm-to-table cuisine, and environmentally friendly tourism. With half a million species ranging from insects to the massive anteaters that consume them, it is one of the world's most biodiverse countries, and it also safeguards one-quarter of its natural areas by legislation. Costa Rica is a biodiversity hotspot. It has virgin rainforests, volcanic volcanoes, and tangled mangroves, all of which sustain a wide variety of wildlife.

Volunteers participating in the Teaching program in Costa Rica will teach English sessions in local Costa Ricans public or private schools in need of regular volunteers due to a lack of personnel. Tourism is one of Costa Rica's most important businesses, and having a solid command of the English language may help you secure a sophisticated and well-paying career. Working as a volunteer teacher in Costa Ricans schools is beneficial not only to the students from the disadvantaged part, but also to the volunteers. All that is expected of the volunteers to do this assignment is that they speak English well and have a strong desire to work with youngsters.

Volunteer’s Roles Responsibilities and Activities

Volunteers' primary responsibilities will be to teach English to youngsters at a local school. Teaching grammar and vocabulary, as well as assisting students in improving their reading, writing, and conversational English will be part of the job description. You can make a difference in the education and knowledge of local children and adults through the Teaching Abroad program, demonstrate compassion and care for at-risk youngsters, or assist with disaster relief.

You will undoubtedly have a beneficial impact by participating in community development programs. Others will remember you for a long time. Volunteers can teach English or another skill, serve as an activity coordinator at an after-school program, or help with young children and babies in a government-run welfare day care.  In the communities with whom we serve, the chance to study English is greatly valued.

Arrival and Orientation

Our personnel will pick you up from Juan Santamaria International Airport and transport you to your community housing or host family. The rest of the day is yours to relax and experience Costa Rica's kindness. In a formal atmosphere, you will meet your coordinators and fellow group members. You will learn more about Costa Rica and your program at orientation. Later in the voyage, you'll stop in Puerto Jiménez, which is known for its waterfalls and natural beauty.

Accommodation

The residence may accommodate ten to fifteen people. In a hostel-style setting, gender-specific dormitory rooms are available. Each of the group leaders has his or her own sleeping quarters. Wi-Fi is available in the dining and living areas, as well as the toilets. Depending on the size of the event, host families may be provided as an alternative. Our host families have undergone extensive background investigations, have been a part of our program for a number of years, and have been highly recommended by previous participants. Upgraded lodging is available upon request.

Free Time Travel Activities in Costa Rica

Puerto Jiménez, which is surrounded by fresh water, is home to a large number of people and animals. A great site to plan an excursion, get supplies, eat a delicious meal, and rest before hitting the trails.

Relax and enjoy Puerto Jimenez till then. If this is your last day in the program, our staff will assist you in making future plans. Those who remain committed to the program will be awarded a two-day weekend to relax. Placements that persist more than a week are treated similarly. You'll be working on the project Monday through Friday. Saturday and Sunday are yours to do with as you like.
