Ecuador Teaching Volunteer Program

Ecuador has a tropical temperature, rich foliage, and a network of volcanic islands, making it a popular tourist destination. Ecuador has many beautiful beaches that draw travelers back again and again. White-sand coast, Kichwa villages, Amazonian woods, and the majestic Andes are just a few of the delights packed into this small country. With its astounding biodiversity, impressive historical legacy, stunning colonial architecture, bustling highland markets, and diverse mix of people – blacks, whites, indigenous, and mestizo – Ecuador is often regarded as a microcosm of South America.

Volunteering at an orphanage allows you to help orphan children who live at our children's home. Every year, many children become orphans and vulnerable as a result of years of civil war, the spread of poverty, and the high maternal mortality rate during childbirth. These children lack basic necessities such as food, shelter, and clothing. They lack access to education and maternal love to move forward. Orphan children require attention, love, and care, as well as a good education that can provide a window of opportunity for future success.

Volunteer’s Roles Responsibilities and Activities

For the course of your stay, you will review your daily obligations as well as our objectives. Volunteers will assist orphaned children in various ways while also assisting the orphanage in running their programs smoothly. You can teach them English and/or Spanish, as well as plan games and activities such as plays, music, dances, and even recreational activities. You can also take the kids on educational field trips and teach them about personal hygiene. You can also volunteer in the kitchen, help clean the orphanage, or work in administration.

Moreover, the volunteers will mostly support the children by assisting them with their educational activities throughout the day. Your work also focuses on helping children with schoolwork by reading with them, learning children's literature, playing in the park, or simply walking to the garden and playing in the schoolyard. Physiotherapy sessions will necessarily urge them to try mechanical motions in order for them to feel healthy.

Arrival and Orientation

Our team will meet you at the Mariscal Sucre International Airport and transport you to your accommodation with a community house or a host family. You will then have the rest of the day to relax and enjoy Ecuador's hospitality. You will formally meet your coordinators and fellow group members. You will learn more about Ecuador and your program during orientation. Later in the tour, you will be taken on a journey through Quito, which is known for its historic legacy and natural beauty.

Accommodation

The community house can accommodate 10/15 people. Group housing is hostel-style, with gender-specific dormitory rooms. Group leaders have their own sleeping quarters. Wi-Fi is available, as are dining and living areas and indoor bathrooms. Depending on the size of the group, host families may also be offered as an option. Our host families have been thoroughly screened, have been involved with our program for several years, and have been recommended by previous participants. Upgraded accommodations are available upon request.

Free Time Travel Activities in Quito, Ecuador

Ecuador's capital is Quito. This vast spreading metropolis isn't necessarily the most appealing at first, and it might be intimidating for some visitors. Although I felt the same way when I first arrived, I now consider Quito to be a top South American destination.

For the meantime, you may relax and explore Quito. If this is your last day in the program, our team will assist you in determining your future steps. Those that stick with the program will receive a two-day weekend to unwind. Placements that last longer than a week are handled in the same way. Monday through Friday, you'll be working on the project. Saturday and Sunday are entirely free to explore.
