Peru Medical Healthcare Volunteer Program

The landscapes of Peru are diverse, with intriguing geoglyphs among them. Cusco and Machu Picchu are the most popular summer destinations for all tourists since the country with the Peruvian highlands receives less precipitation in the summer and the temperature is adequate. The most intricate and gorgeous weavings in Peru are as complex as the nation itself. Old traditions are preserved during festivals, the urban avant-garde fosters innovation, and nature gives a wide range of experiences. The most popular destination for most travelers to Peru is hiking through the majestic Andes to the world-famous Inca stronghold of Machu Picchu. However, this is a modest part of the total wealth of the country.

The Medical & Healthcare Volunteer Program in Peru will allow you to not only make a positive difference in the lives of the people, but it will also allow you to learn more about the country's healthcare system.Volunteers in this program make a meaningful difference in the lives of those who work in Peru's health clinics and medical institutes. Volunteers mostly work at medical clinics that give care and treatment to residents of Cusco's impoverished and underprivileged neighborhoods. You may be asked to assist with procedures such as suturing wounds, administering vaccinations, assisting with vital sign taking, participating in daily medical center procedures, observing or directly providing various types of assistance to existing doctors and nurses, depending on your medical background and Spanish language skills.

Volunteer’s Roles Responsibilities and Activities

Your activities as a volunteer working in Peru's medical/healthcare project will be determined by your degree of training, certificates, and licensure. All clinics and hospitals strive to make the best use of their volunteers while also creating a learning atmosphere. As a volunteer, whether you have prior experience or not, you shadow and monitor the work of physicians and nurses, and then assist them according to your medical knowledge. Volunteers with certain skills will be able to assist in their areas of expertise. Volunteers with less experience may be given basic training during the clinics.

You'll be observing and shadowing experienced physicians and nurses for the most of your time. You'll accompany them as they treat patients with a range of injuries and illnesses, providing you the unique opportunity to experience firsthand what it takes to work in the medical sector. You'll be observing and shadowing experienced physicians and nurses for the most of your time. Arrival and Orientation

At the Velasco Astete Aeropuerto International Airport in Cusco, our personnel will meet you and transport you to your community home or host family lodging. You have the rest of the day to relax and experience Peruvian hospitality. In a formal atmosphere, you will meet the organizers and other members of your group. You will have a better understanding of Peru and your program at orientation. Later in the voyage, you'll pass through Cusco, which is known for its historical significance and natural beauty.

Accommodation

The shared house may accommodate ten to fifteen people. For group housing, gender-specific dormitory rooms are available in a hostel-style atmosphere. Each group's commander has his or her own sleeping quarters. Wi-Fi is available in the dining and living areas, as well as the toilets. Depending on the magnitude of the event, host families may be offered as an alternative. Our host family has undergone comprehensive background checks, has been a member of our program for several years, and has received great praise from previous participants. Upgraded accommodations are available upon request.

Free Time Travel Activities in Cusco, Peru

Cusco, the Andean city of Peru, was once the capital of the Inca Empire and is now known for its archaeological remains and Spanish colonial architecture. You may have fun at the beach, during summer carnivals, and by engaging in outdoor activities and games.

Meanwhile, relax and take in the sights of Cusco. If this is your final day in the program, our team will assist you in making preparations for the future. Those that stick with the program will be given a two-day weekend to unwind. Placements that last more than a week are considered in the same way. Monday through Friday, you'll be working on the project. Saturday and Sunday are entirely yours to spend as you like.
